From what I read, this is the ideal spot for both ginseng and golden seal. Coolest in the summer months because hill blocks the searin gheat of the sunset. I call it the far retreat area because there's an almost level space big enough to camp in.

However it does remind me that i did plant osage orange along the fencline about 10 years ago and some of it is still alive, albeit very small.

Lots of bush honeysuckle along the inflow from the storm drain
Also several volunteer spice bush and other shrubs that are not bush honeysuckle.

This tree fell toward the soujthern boundary, short by only a few feet.
There are no super old trees in here, most are either in the 40 to 100 year rane, and then a bunch of smaller ones younger than 15. My guess is that cattle wandered through here freely around 30 or 40 years ago, Very little of the native undergrowth is back.
