20.4 South wall of house
active water running underground on south side of house
I'm sure I heard this before, but perhaps just didn't think about it enough. The sounds I hear, of water running, sounds like a nice little creek or brook, but there's no visibly running water. It must be underground and I'd guess some kind of drain pipe that must end over where the deck starts. And at some point, crosses the trench dug for running electric and phone to the workshop.
This concrete pad is the top of an old cistern that has been filled with rock. apparently they didn't build it right, since the shut if down due to excessive leakage into the basement. Now it is a nice heat trap on the sunny south side of the house. Here I've just gone through the stout branches I'd been curing there. What's on top of the white things is what was good. The white things are water barrells to be installed.
snow melt in front of south wall of house
Quite a bit warmer back here, also protected from the north winds. Temp up at window height is usually 10 to 30 degrees warmer than in front of house.
