Poison ivy
Poison ivy is a rather nice looking plant in the spring and does have nice fall colors. However, unless you have developed immunity, touching any part of it, especially the leaves, can give you a very nasty rash. There's an oil secreted by the leaves that can produce a really itchy bothersome rash for a week or two.
A good washing with soap and water with a few hours of exposure will prevent the rash for most people.
So why bother having this native plant around? Well, for one thing, there are plenty of animals and insects that do enjoy eating it. And, as this article indicates, it may be useful in control of invasive species.
