Forest succession
This set of aerial photos I found in Google Earth provides an excellent overview of how the forest has been on the move since 1991. The forest had been held in check by mowing until I bought the place in 1999. By 2002 the forest was on the move, battalions of persimmons in the north and regiments of black locust in the south. In the meantime invading special ops groups of bush honeysuckle and and winter creeping moved in from the east.
