These are photographs of a specific event that was in front of the lens at a certain place and time to which words have been added.  A few of the words are quotes from others,  but most are my own words.

Captioned photographs are photos with titles and sometimes lengthy captions embedded in the metadata of the digital file.    Unfortunately, many websites that allow photo uploading strip out the caption, so they are only useful on sites where the caption meta data is supported.

Marked up photographs have text embedded in the image.  The plus side of obscuring parts of the image is that the text will remain with the photograph, even if the metadata has been stripped off.
