Most of my work with iron was in the late 70's and early 80's and a bit in the mid 90's. I have some ideas for future projects and when the time is right, will see what comes out.
I am quite comfortable working with the oxy-acetylene welding process, and used welding rods in a lot of my early work. However, the last time I went shopping for welding rods about 5 years ago, I discovered that the rods have to be special ordered -- most welding these days is done with variations of electric welders. I prefer the gas because I can use a welding torch as a substitute for a forge to heat iron for shaping on an anvil.
