Mobiles in motion: video clips
I enjoy making these hanging wood sculptures which serve no useful purpose, although they are can occupy otherwise unused space. Warning: excessive viewing of mobiles can induce tranquility in some people.
Each of these mobiles is unique, and most of them consist only of pieces of wood and the chains and hooks supporting them. All of them dance in gentle breezes and make a lot of wood clacking noise in strong winds. The wood pieces are harvested on my place or driftwood collected along the banks of the Missouri River.
These mobiles are treated so they can be hung inside or outside, though most should be brought inside if there's a real storm brewing.
These video clips are an initial effort to record what I've been making. However, without a decent breeze, they tend to just hang around. All of them never stop moving, but sometimes you have to watch slow and long to see the movement. Most of these clips feature motion that I started by pushing on it.

The dragon in the middle is a hunk of driftwood of the kind known as punk wood -- completely rotted through and very light, yet still holding its shape. The other pieces, some driftwood, some cut branches and some reeds dance around the dragon once things are set in motion. A fairly light breeze will do it, but a breeze with at least enough umph for it to ruffle your hair.
