Permaculture is an approach to living in cooperation with the earth, so a parking lot and driveway are elements, in fact key elements when the location is distant from any kind of public transport and all visitors will be expected to arrive by car or truck.
From a highway engineering point of view, the parking areas should not have anything growing in them. Such growth will weaken the weight bearing capacity by turning rock to (rich) soil. On the other hand, the edges can be forest edges also. The parking area just north of the studio provides both east and west facing edges than can be nurtured into guilds. The outputs from these parking and driving edges can be edible fruits and nuts as long as there's not 50 million cars and trucks going up and down the driveway every day.
