9.1 Old Locust Grove
This section of the South East Wood features two very large and old black locust and is close to the highest point on the property, maybe is the highest point. There are three very old black locust here, along with some 2 inch diameter steel cable and other things that means this was probably a work space for doing heaving lifting. Large branches come down nearly every year.

This iron hook and heavy duty wire rope was here 15 years ago. Very heavy and awkward to work with.

He's sitting on an old power switch box of some kind. Quite a few hunks of metal scattered around this area south of the barn and north of the south property line.
There used to be some kind of gate in the fence over where the crossed posts are. This may be the higest spot of the property, if not under the barn itself. The soil here appears rich, but the canopy covers it quite thickly throughout the summer. I've put pines in here, but they don't make it.
