01. North West Forest - Redwoodtwig

Brandon Smith (Redwoodtwig)

The northwest forest slopes down from the northern boundary to the south and west toward the forest creek and the western property boundary.  There's a ridge line running from where the northern boundary down between the lagoon and the upper pond and on up toward the workshop that is more or less the boundary of this patch of woods.  A road was probably built along the ridge line and in the past sometime, it looks like there was some bulldozer work part way down the slope as well as down toward the lower pond.

As is often the case in private forested land in Missouri, it appears to have been grazed with cattle at some point since there is very little in the way of native herbaceous  or shrub level plants.  Looking around this area, there are a fair number of tall canopy trees probably close to 60 years old and a lot of very young trees but very few in the age range 20 to 40 years old.
